ELDERLY AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMAN DAGUERREOTYPE-1/6th PLATE-FULL CASE-SUPER RARE!!!. Unbelievably rare elderly African American woman wearing an early 1840's-late 1830's winter cap, holding a wooden walking cane!!! This photo is circa 1845 or possibly earlier. She wears wire frame glasses and has 2 hand tinted gold circular rings of some type on the left side of her coat/dress. The case is warped somewhat and will not close completely and will not latch. She sits in a tall high back chair. I have no idea who the maker is. I carefully tried to removed the very thick cover glass but since the case is warped, the glass would not budge and I was not going to force it. Minus the warping, the case is in wonderful condition. Has an early design on the front of the case and a blank back. The clasp is still tight. One of her eyes is partially open while the other looks almost shut. If my gut feeling serves me right, she is either in her late 80's or 90's, which would put her being born around the 1750's or 1760's. If anyone has any further information as to her ethnicity, please let me know. The best that I can think of is that she is half Caucasian and half African American. Her bottom lip and broad nose seem to lead me to this conclusion. I am shipping this with Priority Mail in a strong, sturdy box and will painstakingly use the utmost care in packaging!! If anyone has any further information that can help, I would greatly appreciate it!! I mail same day as payment clears. Please ask if you have any questions!!! Offers are accepted!!!!<br>
